If the SVHEC needs to close or delay opening for weather reasons, the message on the SVHEC's main number voice mail (434-572-5440 or 1-800-283-0098) will be updated at 6:30 AM.

Do not call individual extension numbers to get closure information since those voice mails will not be updated -- Only the SVHEC's main number will have any closure/delayed opening announcement.

We will also provide any closure/delayed opening information to WSET-TV channel 13 and WHLF 95.3 radio for broadcast.

For Community College Students Only:

Night classes are those that begin at 3:00pm and later. Depending on weather, day and night classes may be cancelled separately. Community College classes at the SVHEC do not operate on a delayed class schedule. Please see examples below for how a one or two hour delay would affect classes:

• If there is a one hour delay and the class is scheduled from 8:00-8:50am, the class will not meet.

• If there is a one hour delay and the class is scheduled from 8:00-10:00am, the class will meet from 9:00-10:00am.

• If there is a two hour delay and the class is scheduled from 9:00-11:30am, the class will meet from 10:00-11:30am.

• If there is a two hour delay and the class is scheduled from 10:00am-12:30pm, the class will meet at its normal time.
