When do classes start?
The next IT Professionals/CompTIA A+ and Server+ begins August 13, 2018. This class will be offered again in January 2019, and is the IT Academy’s foundation program. What certifications should I earn?
The foundation program, IT Professionals/CompTIA A+ and Server+, prepares you for two industry-recognized, professional Information Technology (IT) certifications: CompTIA A+ (exams 220-901, 220-902) and Server+ (exam SK0-004). Two additional advanced courses provide instruction for the CompTIA Network+ (exam N10-006) and the CompTIA Security+ (exam Sy0-401).
How long will it take to complete the full course (2 certifications)?
It will take 4 months to complete Computer and Server Foundations for IT Professionals/CompTIA A+ and Server+.
When do classes meet?
IT Professionals/CompTIA A+ and Server+: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 5:00p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Do I have to buy my exam vouchers?
No, the cost of the exam vouchers is included in the price of the program.
How many chances do I have to pass the exams?
You are guaranteed a second chance at the test at no additional cost if you do not pass the first time. You may purchase additional vouchers at a reduced price if needed. There is no wait time required between the first and second attempt to pass the exam. You must wait at least fourteen (14) calendar days from the date of your second attempt before taking the exam for a third time. This is the CompTIA testing policy.
What does the program cost?
*IT Professionals/CompTIA A+ and Server+ $2700
Networking Foundations/CompTIA Network+ $1025
Security Foundations/CompTIA Security+ $1025
Financial assistance is available and exam vouchers, textbooks, and online training tools are included in the costs of the program.
*For training participants in the IT Professionals/CompTIA A+ and Server+ program, a laptop computer is included in the supplies and will become the property of the trainee at the end of the program.
Where do I go to take the certification exams?
You will take the first certification exams in the Pearson VUE Testing Center on the campus of the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) in South Boston, VA. If you need to re-take an exam, you may take it at any testing facility that is convenient.
Do I need to purchase any supplies for the class?
You will need a notebook and pen or pencil for taking notes. A highlighter is recommended as well.
