This summer, the R&D Center for Advanced Manufacturing & Energy Efficiency (R&D CAMEE) was contacted by the American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) with a request to design-for-manufacture and produce their new Pinnacle Award. The Pinnacle Awards were created in April 1995 by the ASFD Board of Directors to promote design quality and encourage the recognition of furniture designers within the retail home furnishings industry. Each year the award is given out at the High Point Furniture Market award dinner.

R&D CAMEE's work on the American Wood Finishing & Suppliers Design Emphasis trophy attracted ASFD's attention and led to the eventual collaboration. R&D CAMEE staff worked with the ASFD design team to bring their design concept to reality by converting their design rendering into a design-for-manufacture 3D model and producing this year's awards.

The 2013 Pinnacle Awards were given out at a prestigious awards dinner in High Point, NC on October 21st. This award is very special to the national furniture industry, and R&D CAMEE is honored to be a part in this fine tradition.
