SVHEC COVID-19 Reopening
The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) is back open after COVID-19 caused a campus-wide shut down on March 18th. We are excited to welcome students, staff, and partners back to campus as we resume some normal activities.
We are taking the threat of COVID-19 seriously, and we pledge to do everything in our power to keep SVHEC buildings, classrooms, labs and workspaces clean and safe from COVID-19.
Our world has changed and so must we. We have developed a comprehensive Reopening Plan, and implemented new guidelines and protocols to help keep us safe. A few key points are noted below, but we encourage you to download and review the entire document so you will have the full details on how we’ll operate in the coming weeks and months.
- SVHEC is reopening only to staff, partners, students enrolled in classes at the SVHEC, and clients who have appointments with SVHEC staff or partners. We are remaining closed to the general public, and not accepting any facility rentals at this time.
- Before entering the building, all students and clients must go through a check-in process. SVHEC staff will verify your enrollment status or appointment time and provide an entry badge and armband so that you may enter the building. While we will not be conducting temperature checks, we’re asking everyone to complete a COVID-19 screening self-check before entering the building.
- Facial coverings are required to enter the building, and must be worn while entering common areas of the facility such as the lobby, hallways or the restroom. Facial coverings may be removed after class has started if the appropriate level of social distancing can be maintained for the duration of the class.
