Living with COVID-19

Please take the CDC Coronavirus Self-Checker Before Entering SVHEC Buildings

SVHEC continues to take the threat of COVID-19 seriously, and we pledge to continue doing everything in our power to keep SVHEC buildings, classrooms, labs and workspaces clean and safe from COVID-19.

While we are living with COVID, SVHEC will operate under the protocols established in our Plan. These guidelines and protocols are intended to help keep us safe, and will be adjusted as needed. A few key points are noted below, but we encourage you to download and review the entire document to be fully informed of SVHEC’s COVID-19 safety protocols.

Check Your Symptoms Before Arriving We’re asking everyone to complete the CDC’s Coronavirus Self Checker before entering the building. There is a voluntary temperature check station available in the lobby of the 820 Bruce Street Building and on the 1st floor of the Innovation Center.

Facial coverings required regardless of vaccination status Due to rising COVID-19 cases caused by the Delta variant, low vaccination rates in Halifax County, and high levels of community transmission, SVHEC is requiring all individuals to wear a facial covering for the duration of their time in the building. This includes while in class even if social distancing can be maintained.

SVHEC recommends the use of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s COVID-19 Exposure Notification App, COVIDWISE. This app securely alerts users if they have been in contact with someone who has been exposed to COVID-19 within the past 14 days. Use of COVIDWISE is not mandatory, but is highly recommended for members of the SVHEC community. Visit www.covidwise.org to learn more.
