• Leggett Learning Resource Center Ribbon Cutting

    On March 25th, SVHEC executive director Dr. Charlette Woolridge was joined by funders and students in cutting the ribbon on the renovated Leggett Learning Resource Center. This refreshed, modern space provides students with a dedicated space for studying and student success. The space officially opens to students on April 6th, and features computer work stations, flexible seating, and small meeting rooms.
  • Celebrating 40 Years of Opportunity

    On February 17th, SVHEC kicked off its 40th anniversary with a special event honoring our past and charting our future. We celebrated the founders and community partners who had the vision and foresight to establish a higher education presence in Halifax County four decades ago. We also unveiled a portrait of retired executive director, Dr. Betty H. Adams who served honorably for 16 years, and oversaw a period of tremendous programmatic growth and facility expansion.
  • Healthcare Training Hub Hosts Blood Drive

    The Healthcare Training Hub hosted a blood drive on March 17th. Fifteen donors gave 21 pints of blood, potentially saving up to 63 lives.
  • Backpack Buddies: Campus Connect Prepares Backpacks of Food for Elementary Students

    In March, Campus Connect@SVHEC volunteered at Tri-County Community Action Agency, Inc.'s Serving Hope Food Pantry to pack backpacks for the Backpack Buddies program. This program provides backpacks of food to Halifax County elementary students who are experiencing food insecurity. We were honored to contribute to this wonderful program
  • SVHEC Hosts Workforce Roundtable with VEDP Senior Vice-President Megan Healy

    On February 24th, SVHEC hosted a workforce development roundtable discussion with Virginia Economic Development Partnership Senior VP, Megan Healy. Community leaders in business, industry, and education discussed a range of topics including positioning industry for growth, emerging innovations, and aligning the education and talent pipelines.
