The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) offers many options for teaching, from college degrees to fast-track certification for career switchers. Financial assistance is available to qualified individuals.

Longwood University’s Teaching and Education Program

Longwood’s education and teaching bachelor’s degree completion program provides a pathway to the classroom for individuals who hold an associate’s degree and meet required prerequisites. Students complete a bachelor’s degree in five semesters, with classes meeting in the evenings for working adults.

Individuals who hold an Associate of Science, Associate of Arts, or an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree, with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher, and a grade of C or better in each class, will be guaranteed admission to the bachelor degree program.

SVHEC Provides Opportunities for Adult Learners

“If it wasn’t for the Higher Education Center I wouldn’t have been able to receive my Master’s degree in Special Education. The neat thing about the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center is that there are different options, different nontraditional methods of receiving education.”
