Summer Career Camps@SVHEC

Area students are invited to attend free career focused camps at SVHEC this summer. Camps will focus on exploring in-demand careers in healthcare and information technology (IT), and are open to middle and high school students. Spaces are limited and pre-registration is required.

The health careers camp will be provided by the Southside VA Area Health Education Center (AHEC) which is housed at SVHEC. The IT camps will be provided by SVHEC’s Career Tech Academy. There is no charge to attend either camp.

AHEC Health Careers Exploration Camp, June 10-12th, 9:00am-3:00pm OR July 24-26th, 9am-3:00pm| Rising 9th-12th Graders: Students will learn about a wide range of health careers through a combination of hands-on activities and engaging guest speakers. Each day camp attendees will meet a different healthcare professional located with the Southside VA AHEC Region. Registration is limited to 20 participants.

IT Career Exploration Camp, June 24-27, 8:30am-11:30am| Rising 8th, 9th, and 10th Graders: Join us for an unforgettable IT adventure. Learn from an experienced IT professional while making new friends that share your interests. Whether you are a budding coder, a future cybersecurity expert, or just someone eager to explore the wonders of the digital realm, this camp is perfect for you. The camp will cover computer components basics, disassembly & component identification, troubleshooting, and an escape room challenge.
