The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s Sustainable Wood Innovators’ project team recently hosted a college and career fair for Halifax County High School students. The fair highlighted career opportunities in the forest products and natural resources industries. During the fair, Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources & Environment provided an information session on bachelor’s degree programs in a wide-range of fields including forestry, packaging systems design, meteorology, geography and more.
Several regional agencies and companies participated in the career fair including H&M Logging, Morgan Lumber Company, the Dan River Basin Association, Soil & Water Conservation District, NOVEC, Johnson Brothers, LLC, and Smurfit Westrock.
