On October 1st & 2nd SVHEC staff participated in the SoVA Career Choice Expo held in Chatham, VA. This year, 2,885 middle and high school students attended the annual event that exposes students to a wide range of careers in southern Virginia. Staff from the Office of Learner Success and Engagement provided information on SVHEC’s hands-on training programs. They also assisted with the Sustainable Wood Innovators display, sharing informaiton on careers in forestry and wood products.

SVHEC’s Entrepreneurship Education Coordinator, Jocelyn Forest, shared information on entrepreneurship and the free entrepreneurship education training she provides to middle and high school students (in partnership with the SoVA Innovation Hub and RISE-Regional Investment in Startups and Entrepreneurs). Students who visited the entrepreneurship table played an engaging Family Feud style game to test their knowledge and introduce them to concepts of entrepreneurship.
