
The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s Leggett Learning Resource Center (LLRC) will host a June Workshop Series to help community members strengthen essential skills for everyday success. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required and seats are limited.
The series will include three workshops focused on Digital Literacy, Job Search Skills, and Resume Writing. Each workshop will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Leggett Learning Resource Center at SVHEC, and will provide practical, hands-on instruction.
The series will begin on Saturday, June 13 with the Digital Literacy Workshop. Participants will learn basic computer and mobile device functions, AI fundamentals, how to use email, video calling apps, and messaging apps, password management, and how to recognize online scams. Attendees may bring their own device or use one that will be provided.
The “How to Conduct a Job Search” workshop will be held on Monday, June 15. This session will help participants learn proven strategies for finding the right job opportunities. Topics will include how to find job openings online and locally, complete an application correctly, and prepare for interviews with confidence.
The series will conclude with a Resume Writing Workshop on Tuesday, June 16. Workshop attendees will learn essential components of a professional resume, how to showcase their skills and experience, and how to tailor a resume to specific jobs and industries. Participants will leave with a polished resume ready for job applications.
The Leggett Learning Resource Center is located on SVHEC’s campus at 820 Bruce Street, South Boston, VA. There is no cost to attend the workshops, but seats are limited and registration is required.
