Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment (CNRE) and the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center are partnering to offer the inaugural Natural Resources College and Career Expo event on Dec. 6 at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center in South Boston, Virginia.
Throughout the day, college and high school students from the Southside region will have the opportunity to engage with CNRE college recruiters, as well as representatives from the natural resources industry to learn about careers in natural resources and educational pathways to those careers.
The Virginia Forestry Association, Virginia Department of Forestry, Virginia Cooperative Extension and other agencies and employers will be on site from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., with a partners and alumni reception afterwards.
This event is designed to increase awareness of the rewarding careers that exist in natural resources in the region, and to assist students in navigating either the community college transfer pathway or enrollment at Virginia Tech in the College of Natural Resources and Environment. The college offers degrees in forestry, fish and wildlife conservation, sustainable biomaterials, packaging, meteorology, water, geography, and more.
